About Us

Sustainable Bebe is the product of hard-working women from around the globe.  Born out of a conversation between Shana Greene, Executive Director of Village Volunteers (www.villagevolunteers.org), and Nora Laughlin a single mom, student and volunteer, Sustainable Bebe was an answer to the question, "How can you continue the volunteer work that inspires you, while making a living for yourself and your daughter?"

Sustainable Bebe seeks to enhance the quality of life for all of the women involved. We offer adorable clothing, accessories and other handmade goods produced by the lovely women of the Dzidefo ("there is hope") Women's Coop founded in February 2008, by Village Volunteers and by "Mama Ama Peta", a volunteer from Canada. The coop was founded to give the women a sustainable income, develop their business skills, and to develop their sewing techniques and skills to enable their work to be marketed in the US and Canada.

We embrace the opportunity to serve you the customer, create a market for our partners in Ghana, and create a lasting impression in the world of retail.  Sustainable Bebe, Village Volunteers, Dzidefo Women's Coop, and YOU are partners in hope!

Sincerely,

Nora Laughlin, founder Sustainable Bebe
